> Fully compatible with old Neewer 4-channel model (= Cowboy NPT-04) if all transmitters and receivers are the same are set channel. I use the default setting of 1234 up for the 16 channel model and 12 up for the 4 channel model > Aside from 16 channels vs 4, the only difference between the models is that the 16 channel transmitter has an on/off switch > TRANSMITTER BATTERY LIFE - My original 4 channel transmitter lasted 3 years on the same battery through many thousands of flash photos - even though it had NO on/off switch. So a 16-channel transmitter's battery should last almost forever as long as you remember to turn it off at the end of each session. However, the battery is an unusual size (A23) and it might be a good idea to order extra ones. Storing accessories in the refrigerator (not the freezer) can extend their life.> RECEIVER BATTERY LIFE. Surprisingly, regular AAA batteries in receivers can also last for years, but ONLY if you remember to turn receivers off after each session. If you leave the receiver on, the AAA batteries will likely be dead by the next day. Pay attention to the orientation of the old battery (take a picture of it with your phone) - the A23 battery has "nipples" on both ends. Google "NPT-04" for some videos on how to change the A23 battery. The reason I bought a 16 channel model to replace my 4 channel model was that when I opened up the 4 channel receiver to change the battery the antenna cable fell off and I didn't knew where to solder it back on (spot solder front right edge (facing yourself) - the antenna cable is only screwed on at one end. Fortunately, the 16-channel model is almost identical internally, which told me where to put the antenna cable again Had to solder it in. With a new battery (and antenna wire in place) my 4 x channel system is working again Receivers are easy to open (they don't work in this case) so I taped them with blue tape The transmitter -On/Off switch is unlabeled, so (with a mark ) I made the label "<- ON" with blue masking tape (white tape would be even better). I made similar labels for the receivers, them are much clearer than those on the plastic egg engraved on/off labels. I put tape on the switch channel switch so I can't accidentally change them when fumbling with the power buttons. IF IT DON'T WORK - Press the test button on the top red diode on the receiver is blinking, then the transceiver is working. If the red diode on the transmitter does not flash, your transmitter battery is empty. If the red diode flashes on the transmitter but not on the receiver, then the receiver's batteries are dead (or the channel switches don't match). If both diodes are blinking, you have a problem with the flash (e.g. batteries are dead) or a bad contact between the camera and the transmitter or between the receiver and the flash. You can test your flash by pressing the test button on your device. If the flash is working properly, remove and reattach the emitter from the camera and the receivers from the flashes to ensure they are properly installed. If that doesn't work, make sure the transmitter and receiver are tuned to the same channel.> MYSTERIOUS ERRORS -- Sometimes the system still doesn't work - or intermittently once you've fixed all the problems listed above. . The diodes will blink and the flash(s) will discharge when you press the test button on the transmitter (meaning the connections and batteries are good), but the flash will not discharge when you press the trigger. Sometimes the cause is weak batteries - usually in the receivers. Sometimes the connection is bad. In some cases there may be radio interference. Sometimes turning the camera off and on again helps. However, in most cases there is no obvious solution - it appears that some component (perhaps a resistor or capacitor) in the electronics has overheated. Whatever the problem, it usually goes away on its own within 5 minutes. Sure, it could become 5 very long, excruciatingly insane minutes. so calm
