Their form factor appealed to me immediately. I had some old bookshelf speakers lying around, but my wife didn't like anything that big, so I started looking. A lot of big brands didn't have anything that small and compact or cheap. When I stumbled upon these for $50 with their nice little shape, two-way speaker design, and built-in mount, I was sold pretty quickly. There are a number of other brands on Revain that use these boxes with other speakers. None of the others appear to have a reversible design. I took that as a sign that they'll probably have a better sound. In the past my choice of car speakers have always been two way like these and they have always sounded great. Looking at Rockville they also seem to have experience with car audio which also helped me sell them. Frequency range and volume are more than adequate for surround speakers. I use them with a standard Dolby Digital and DTS Onkyo receiver. They faithfully reproduce clean vocals, music and other atmospheric effects. I've seen countless films with them and their mere presence brings a lot more life to each film. I saw 'Gravity' last night and the setting was used to great effect throughout the film. Sometimes long snippets of dialogue come from the surroundings, and with these Rockvilles everything is crystal clear. Are there better satellites? Yes. But probably not for the price. They accurately reflect everything I've heard so far. Much of what is sent to the rear speakers is music and atmosphere. But even when a car rushes by or a spaceship flies by, they do their job and sound pretty awesome. As I picked up Ford v Ferrari, I knew I needed to set up my surround speakers to fully enjoy the film. Right from the start on the title screens, cars speed through the room, seamlessly switching from speaker to speaker and enveloping you in the sound of a roaring engine and the roar of exhaust fumes. Having these speakers is a great experience. I don't like the European style speaker wire terminals but they work fine. I had a bit of an issue getting a good connection when I first plugged them in, but they've been fine ever since. I also wish it wasn't made out of plastic. Wood would give a warmer, fuller tone. But overall I'm very happy with it. They are great value including all mounting hardware ready to hang on the wall or maybe even the ceiling. BTW: If you look at my photo, I'm sorry they are placed so high and behind the main listening position. They're not perfectly set according to Dolby's guidelines, but they're here for aesthetic and practical reasons. When sitting on this sofa, they still provide enough effect. If you are on a budget and need decent speakers to turn your 3.1 channel system into a 5.1 channel system. I definitely recommend these speakers. They have helped me enjoy my home theater again.
