I am a professional chef who spends a lot of time preparing knives and I type or use the computer for hours on end. My hands, especially my right hand, often hurt from overexertion. Not quite carpal tunnel syndrome, but apparently pre-arthritic pain. This made this handheld massager a potential relief solution. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a combination of heat or pressure settings that actually provided more than an interesting squeezing sensation when using the device and no change in my pain upon completion. To be honest, the device works as intended. The battery can be fully charged from a discharged state in approximately 3 hours, and the device has enough charge to be used several times out of the box before charging is required.* The device cannot be used while the battery is charging becomes. * Easily selectable multiple settings for grip strength and heat levels. * You can set the automatic timer to run for 5, 20 or 15 minutes. * The device is portable and can be carried around in the hand. * It seems well designed and ergonomic. The compression method used is interesting and makes you feel like there must be some benefit to relieving pain with or without heat. But the reality for me has been that I don't feel any real difference in my hands after completing the cycle. Squeezing isn't kneading, which would probably be a lot more effective for relief. (Think Shiatsu). I get more relief from OTC anti-inflammatory drugs than from this device. I am rating it THREE STARS because mechanically it works as intended and is well made, but cannot rate it higher due to the lack of actual pain/disease relief that one would expect based on the marketing of the device.
