With my regular bite valve, I had trouble sucking in water when panting during an active hike. i hated it I've now taken this on two test hikes of about 3 miles each and absolutely love it. It was easy to attach to my existing hydration system and the hand pump pushes out quite a bit of water. Without much effort. There are only two things that bother me. 1) There were no instructions in the box. I had to find out everything myself. Not too difficult, but since it requires cutting my existing bladder tubing, I'd feel a lot more confident using the instructions. 2) The hand pump needs 2-3 seconds to inflate again for the next jet of water. That's understandable, but I wish I could do multiple jets in a row for a quick swallow. I'm going to be doing an 11 mile round trip with an overnight stay in a few weeks, so we'll see how it holds up. in real use, but so far I'm very happy with it. In fact, my wife tried it and insisted I buy her one too.
