My 15 year old cat was recently diagnosed with kidney failure. She ate the food prescribed by the vet for a day and then refused it. She is extremely picky; I've always had trouble getting her to eat. Surprisingly, she eats this food. She occasionally eats darker heart cuts, but overall eats well. It has a very strong smell. If you have a picky cat, this food is for you. I just bought a one pound sack in case she doesn't eat it. It's expensive, but no more than what you would pay for a prescription cat food. I think it's good that you can buy food in smaller quantities because the cost of food for cats with kidney problems is very high. NO ONE wants to buy a big, expensive bag of cat food that their cat doesn't want to eat. I just bought a second bag. Hope this helps someone.
