I received the chrome version and was surprised that it was made of plastic. It looks cheap. While I assume plastic is lighter and puts less stress on the wall pipe (shower arm), I still expected more from the build quality for the price. . It specifically states not to use a wrench or pliers. Well it doesn't work. No, unless you want water to flow out of the pipe. I even applied thread seal tape (not included) before screwing it down. As a 6,199 man, I don't consider myself weak. I've got a really bad crush. Another thing to consider is that the head can end up in the wrong position if hand tightened. I suspect this will void the warranty, but there was no other way to prevent a leak (and get it in the perfect position) without using a wrench. But it was also difficult. There is a recess for the wrench to sit in, but it's very flimsy. In fact, the area is too small to hold a standard crescent wrench. In fact, its thickness is only enough for a combination wrench (commonly used by mechanics). But it requires an inch wide wrench, and my set is only 3/4 inch wide. Luckily I have a Craftsman Beak Jaw Adjustable Wrench that is flat like a combination wrench but adjustable like a crescent wrench. This tool required me to hold the showerhead with my left hand (to keep it from spinning) and turn the key with my right hand. I also had to add several layers of tape to seal the stem threads. Finally, after all this, I put the nozzle back in place and the pipe no longer leaks. So! So the chrome is plastic and the shower head is very difficult to install. It's not looking very good so far, is it? But how well does it work when used? To be honest it's not that bad. You can set the lever to flow water only from the rain cover, only from the shower head, or you can have it flow from both at the same time. The downside to using both at the same time is that the water pressure is halved, so it's less powerful. I've also noticed that water drips out of the shower head even when the Raincan is fully on. It's not bad, but definitely not perfect. The rain cover pivots back and forth slightly to allow for adjustment. In my case, the whole block only sticks out 18 inches (one and a half feet) from the wall, so I keep it facing me as much as possible. The rain effect would be better if it went straight down, but in my setup I feel it's too close to the wall to be placed horizontally (it doesn't help that I also have a shower stall hanging from the shower bracket) . ). Luckily, the rain cover is about 79 inches (6 ft 7 in) from the shower floor, which gives me enough room for my height. But again, these are just measurements based on my shower setup. Yours may be different. I also noticed that water collects in the raincoat, so it continues to drip for a few minutes when I turn off the shower. I hear a loud "tick" as each drop hits the plastic shower floor. If you've read this far you might think I hate the Hydro Rain shower head. But to be honest I don't know. I just want to make sure everyone understands what they are getting if they decide to buy. In the end I like it, which is why I gave it a 4 star rating. It is much better than my previous shower head and looks higher quality. Why is the latter more important than my own pride? Because it's a nice touch when you're trying to sell your home. Looks more elegant and refined. Overall I find it a bit overpriced for the quality but it's still an improvement for my setup.
