Does exactly what it's supposed to! When installed, it closes the chamber and advances to a small point. It took me a few tries to position the camera correctly so that the camera doesn't appear to have a dark shadow due to the ring. I recommend installing with the camera on and the slider open. If you really need to reposition, the ring can be removed with a light push - just be careful not to lose the little dot that can move if you try to move it. The point is easy to bring back if you move it.
