I bought these to embroider a wine gift bag for my neighbor's house. I really liked that it had a cute burlap look in the front and a solid lining in the back. I would describe the pad as a very thin, soft felt pad. The backing gave me the ability to sew, allowing me to add more detail to my design than without the backing. This allowed me to take the best of both worlds so I could look like burlap on the outside and structure on the back. Gray is a beautiful color and if you look closely the light mixed with the dark is beautiful! In addition, the back helps it keep its shape when the bottle is in the bag. The bottom makes the bottle thicker and stronger, and the bottle won't slide down, giving it a cleaner and clearer look. if it makes sense (I'm always curious. So I'll just say no, I didn't get this product for free because I wrote a good review. I paid for it like a normal person.)
