My Surface guy's lid port was recently blocked by Microsoft Update. I've tried everything I can find online to get the font working. However, everything I've tried has failed, including reinstalling the entire Surface firmware and Windows OS at least three times in hopes of updating the Surface firmware to no avail. With only one USB port, I needed an extra one for my mouse/keyboard combo and Windows bootable USB drive. Designed for Surface Pro 4, this USB hub came in very handy. Even without a Windows driver, this device works in the BIOS and during boot. Surface automatically detects it and lets my bootable USB drive and mouse and keyboard combo work at the same time. I also like the fact that this USB hub sits flush with the Surface when plugged in. It fits perfectly and will be like a sequel. That's better than wires hanging around like keys. This is a great solution for those who have a stuck Surface-type lid port and need at least two working USB ports. I highly recommend. This didn't fix the type cap port issue but allowed me to reinstall windows. As a temporary measure, I had to buy a Bluetooth Type Cover.
