Review on 🐻 Dancing Bear Collection: Interactive Learning for Identification and Education by Jim Young

Pretty disappointing;

After seeing the product image and other customer images, I was happy to purchase this for a family member who has been very addicted to my personal crystal collection lately. This was meant to be some sort of starter box so they could learn a little more and see more variety than I could, but we were disappointed when we received the box this afternoon. One of the first oddities that struck me was that there were 6 pieces of 0.5cm wire in the pack - only blue with copper wire and I was wondering "what are those shiny pieces?" before they realized who they were were and that they just shouldn't have been there. Not a big issue, but definitely a weird quality control issue. The first big problem is that our box is missing geodes. Everything else in the box is not even qualitatively comparable to what others have received. Most of them look like small river rocks or decorative rocks you can buy at a craft store, as well as massive plain rocks, like in a garden. There are no amethyst clusters, no quartz, no arrowheads, and the shark's teeth are almost all broken or tiny (which I think is understandable considering it was thrown into a sack full of rocks, but always still disappointing). I know these boxes are meant to be variety/mixes, but if the box says you're guaranteed to get something, it should be there. I really like the idea of this set but it ends up being returned.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
