Review on πŸŽ’ Source Tactical Assault 20L Hydration Backpack with 3L WLPS Low Profile Hydration Bladder – High-Flow Storm Drinking Valve – MOLLE Webbing for Equipment Attachment, Coyote by Todd Adams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent risers, comfortable padding, large water bladder.

This is a comfortable backpack. The upside for me was that it was listed as being able to hold an extra bladder of water. And for me (I travel through the mountains of Phoenix, Arizona during the summer afternoon heat) it matters. Two 3 liter cylinders are standard for me. I usually have to switch to a 35L backpack in the summer because the straps on my other backpacks are too narrow to carry the weight of two 3L bottles (6kg or about 13lbs) in addition to my first aid kits and carry food appropriately, phone and everything I have. Approximately 25 pounds total (just over 11 kg). So it was a pleasant surprise that the straps on this 20 liter backpack were almost as wide as the straps on my 35 liter backpack. Thanks to this, the backpack can easily withstand the weight. There are also Molle straps on the hip belt for attaching additional items. For me it's a phone carrier on one side and a 4x6 bag on the other for a snack (if I need to eat on the go). Major advantage. I don't have to take off my backpack to eat or put the empty package back in my bag. The waist belt also helps me stay stable when trail running (probably about half of my typical 10-mile hike is trail running). ) The padding on this backpack is way better than all my other backpacks, regardless of size. (I have 3L, 6L, 12L, 18L, 20L, 25L, 30L, and 35L packs.) Yes, I have many, because until now I've never been able to find one that's remotely perfect for your needs. The bladder is a high quality bladder. (Now I have four.) It has good water flow. When hiking, I drink slightly more due to the high flow rate. With my other bladders I averaged about 1 liter per hour. With these chambers I use an average of 1.5 liters per hour. My Garmin watch is supposed to remind me to drink water every 8 minutes. So with the old bottles and the new Source bottles, I drank at similar intervals, only I find it easier to drink through the Source drinking tube than the others, resulting in a higher intake. Straps to hold excess straps. wow so cute No flying Irish pennants (naval terminology for threads sticking out on clothing). I have a complaint, it says he's going to take a second bubble. But there is only one strap in the water bladder compartment to hold it. To place the second bubble you need to place it in the main compartment. But there is no bladder belt. And you have to keep pulling the hose for that second bubble. I've started stashing some items in the bottom of the main compartment (sunscreen, towels, etc.) that will allow the second bladder to pop open so the hydration tube for that bladder doesn't become uncomfortably short for drinking. Otherwise, the second bubble will be low enough that the tube is a little short (about 5 or 6 inches shorter than the bubble tube in the water bubble chamber).

Pros
  • Contoured shoulder straps adjust to shoulder width
Cons
  • Can't remember
