I usually run in circles at the local park and every time I walk in circles I have to stop at the car to get water for me or for the dog. However, we have a very good train route in our area which you can travel as long as you like before deciding when to turn around and get back to your car. I wanted to have enough water on hand so the dog and I could safely walk a long distance. this backpack is great, it fits well, is adjustable, it is light and holds a lot of water in the back. Two small water bottles contained Gatorade which was nice to have. Front pockets hold a small collapsible dog bowl, whistle, mace and napkins. The water pouch could be filled with ice cubes which was nice because it cooled my back while running. Please note that the water in the tube is heated, so you must drink some of it before the cold water flows. My favorite feature is all 3 bite valves that you can pinch with your fingers and squeeze like a cow's udder and milk. Basically, I could pour water into the dog bowl, which was quick and convenient, and I was able to start jogging again quickly. One thing to note is that running with a full backpack is quite noisy. All the clips and straps flap around as you run and the water splashes around. Obviously it gets lighter and squirts even more if you run and drink it. It was a bit noisy and I didn't hear the bikes approaching me. That's the only thing I didn't like that much, but it's not because of the pockets. this is a great bag. I also bought this bag because the clips on the back hold my trekking poles, which I also wanted to carry. And I like safety, so a bright orange color was important to me for visibility. Packed with great features in this handy case. I highly recommend it.
