This is my fourth iPad and I've only used the smart cover with travel case when needed. I've never liked the weight of a full case, and they generally don't hibernate the iPad like the Apple Smart Cover. I decided to try this back and am mostly satisfied. I was looking for something that would keep my iPad from sliding on the floor when I put it down and really help with that. It fits snugly with the cutouts allowing full use of the iPad and Smart Cover mount. It should be noted that while it is transparent it has a frosty matte finish so you can see the Apple logo but not the color of the iPad itself. Good feeling. My downsides are that it was heavier than I expected and the fit means the smart cover needs to be 'pryed off', but I think if it didn't the back cover wouldn't protect the corners either. When you don't need a full case, it offers excellent protection while keeping your iPad looking natural.
