Our 4 year old daughter has been using our tablets here and there for 2 years and has started doing things she shouldn't be doing. It's time to set one up just for her. This tablet turned out to be the best deal, so after reading the reviews we went for it. The tablet has a "kids" setting that looked like it was a locked feature to play on. After I set up the tablet with my Google email and hosted her apps on it, I found that if she quit an app or two, she could quit the child feature. I don't know if this is or should be a bug, but I was concerned that she might access my email and delete something or buy something, so I changed the setting and gave her her own. Child's Gmail account. This works much better. There are parental controls that have allowed me to identify what apps might be there and remove some of the default apps that you normally can't uninstall. So, as a parent, I control the tablet and she owns the tablet entirely. There are many great built-in apps and content that are suitable for young children and all ages. The video books are similar to the beginner books we did with her over the past year. I just want to be able to complement them. I haven't tried it yet, so maybe it's possible. Then there are digital books for children of reading age. It'll be great in a year or two! I've managed to add some of our favorite educational apps and I have a few more to add. I like this tablet very much! My only advice would be to skip the Kids feature and register the tablet for your child. I don't think it affected my review of the product.
