To be honest as long as it lasted everything was fine. But when connected to a surge protector that was only three years old, a brief power outage seemed to do the trick. Laptop and monitor, which are connected to the same surge protector, were not affected, otherwise this particular topic would not bother me. My husband got a pretty good push turning it off when he found out why my monitor was no longer communicating with the laptop. Buyers beware - and be sure to unplug your power strip if you are unplugging it due to a malfunction. Obviously good advice overall, but I just don't think it's been perfectly refurbished to keep so short and work so spectacularly.
