I use it to hold the wax in place and sometimes the wax is difficult to scrape off the walls of this container (what no problems with pottery or other containers). The little tool is good, it has handy little handles and with two different ends you can dab one side and then dab the other side a second time while the first is still too hot. Personally, I like to use the underside of the spoon's side to get the maximum surface area touching my nail. Another thing that was quite difficult at first was figuring out the best way to close it. I've found that it's much easier to attach the lid on one side and then pull it over the container to close the other side than just trying to put the lid on right away.
