This was a great buy for the money. Like all these sets, they are assembled. To separate them, all you have to do is twist them slightly. To remove the piece of metal left on a cube I use needle nose pliers. Squeeze the piece of metal you want to remove and gently twist until it comes loose. They're meant to be popped, you can use a few other methods, but I found this to be the quickest and least frustrating. Remember to be careful when twisting so as not to deform the die. I cut the whole thing in under 10 minutes and they all cut clean.
