Review on πŸŽ’ High Sierra Access Backpack Mercury: The Ultimate Laptop Backpack Solution by Eric Brooks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A few design changes that I like from the original

Just received it and noticed a number of updated features: nylon material feels more durable, claims to be water resistant (no longer has a rain cover at the base, new designed seat belts and easily adjustable cross strap which seems better, large water bottle pockets (maybe the bottles won't fall out when I take my backpack off), no waist belt (which might be the only downside since I've used it) Load off the shoulders for long hikes), the headphone compartment is now facing upwards so nothing falls out when opened (but still a too small pocket for my Jabra on-ear headphones), the zip pulls seem to have been redesigned - let's see if it does seams (in earlier models, the zippers came loose after two years of use, after which d ie bag unusable). The main pockets have a nylon flap (rain cover?) but that's definitely stiff and makes the zip difficult to use - I fold it back to front. The tiny front media pockets have been padded and a mesh pocket has been added to the middle pocket while keeping all the nice features of the front pocket (key hook, small zip pocket, separate nylon pockets for pens and sunscreen, etc.). The back appears to have been upgraded with air groove padding/spine relief. For the price I'm very happy, kept the side compression straps I use to get my bag due to airline size restrictions, still has a 'secret' vertical side pocket handy for a passport, extra cash or important documents - will be updated when I get back from an 11 week trek in Asia and find out how it holds up in daily use.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not bad
