Reliable work laptop for office and travel

As someone who uses a 13-inch MacBook Pro as a personal computer, I wanted something comparable for my work configuration, which requires using Windows to run proprietary applications. The Dell XPS was the closest Windows PC I could find to a MacBook Pro in terms of both performance and form factor. The Dell takes up less floor space than my MacBook Pro, which is already quite small. The thinner bezel of the XPS makes the screen appear even larger than it actually is and also makes the laptop a bit smaller. , it's pretty sharp and 4K videos look great. I still prefer the MacBook Pro's screen, but I'm not exactly a screen snob. The touchscreen seems to do what touchscreens do, but I never use it, so I can't say how good or bad it might be in everyday use. I prefer to keep my hands off the screens. The XPS keyboard is comfortable. Key travel is short, but just enough to at least feel, and the chances of accidentally double-pressing keys are very slim. From a performance standpoint I think this is fine for most of what I do. I find it slightly underperforming than my M1 MacBook Pro, but not by much. Some apps won't open, Outlook freezes from time to time, and I have some freezes on some Adobe CC programs that I don't get on my M1 Mac, but overall it does what I need in the office. . Battery life is pretty weak unless you move the slider down towards the Best Battery Life section rather than the Best Performance section. I understand that improving performance affects battery life, but even if I don't fully move towards improving performance, battery life suffers a lot. The webcam is rubbish. I'll just be honest I don't care because I'm not calling on Zoom or anything, but I'm admittedly shocked at how awful it is. It's nice to have such a compact laptop with solid (if not elite) performance. I've only heard the fan come on a few times so far and it's definitely not loud and my thermals haven't failed yet. Of course, I don't export 8K videos or anything like that. But with work assignments I think in general it does well.

Pros
  • Traditional laptops
Cons
  • High price
