I have a Canon EOS 600D (too heavy for traveling without a car) and a Canon Pwershot A420 (outdated). To replace them, I bought a PowerShot G9 X Mark II.
When I opened the box my first impression was disappointment. It is small, tiny, it will fit into a shirt pocket and does not delay. But when I took pictures of them and looked at the photos, delight and joy. You can say about him: "The spool is small, but expensive, well-tailored, tightly sewn." Definitely recommend to use.

Pros

Compactness, weight, image quality is not worse than DSLRs. Customizable control ring. Retractable flash. Inside the hardware heap of settings. Indeed, a pocket camera, with a confirmed application for a premium class camera. Fresh release year, latest processor. Shoots high quality video.

Cons

It is inconvenient to take pictures with one hand. Decorative plastic overlays (are they needed) or rather inexpensive plastic. I would think of a protective lens cap, there isn't one. When transferring files from the device to a PC via Wi-fi, the battery consumption is high. I took pictures for two hours, then I began to transfer photos to a PC via Wi-fi and the battery went to zero. Again, video files are not transferred to a PC wirelessly, video files can be transferred via a lanyard.
