Review on Fiebing's Edge Kote - Brown Leather Edge Color Coating - 4 oz by Katie Pearce

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It comes in a variety of colors and looks great.

I use this to repair the edges on two leather purse handles, the Tignanello and Lis Clairborne. I use a very small chisel tipped brush and use thin layers. -25? build up to the same "height" as the original coating. But I'm new here and didn't find any tips that came with the bottle. It's also important to trim any loose threads and, if possible, use a thin, small blade to bevel the edge of the remaining hem before adding a new one. Have a damp cotton swab ready for immediate cleaning. Acetone will repair accidents BUT it will also remove some colors/dyes from your leather. It is best to cover the edge with low-stick tape. I ordered black and dark brown. Wash your brushes with clean, soapy water (wipe off excess water with a paper towel first). I will suggest that the colors can be mixed for a better match with the different edges of other bags I have. I will update if this is wrong. It's a little shinier than the original edge. In general, it blends well and is not noticeable. I salvaged two excellent leather bags and I am satisfied. With some bags it may be better to remove all the torn finish from the edges and just start over, this may require a lot less work. I welcome comments from experts on best application and use.
