The device actually serves as a night light on my diesel tank. Whenever the pump is powered, the light is also powered and I know the pump is on. For me, red light doesn't interfere with my night vision. For those who help themselves to my fuel at night, the light tells me and they tend to run away when it's on. Even my neighbors can see the light from afar and know something is happening.
