I didn't buy these for hiking but they are great for hiking. The reason I chose this is because my daughter came home with two young children, she had children in Texas and the last few months they lived in Oklahoma. Kids don't know what Midwest winters are like, and I wanted something that would keep their feet warm but not uncomfortable because they both prefer to go barefoot. I always chose the best socks I could make to achieve this goal. These socks are thick but not too thick so they don't feel uncomfortable in shoes like some winter socks. They are thick enough to keep my feet warm in a shoeless home as most of my floor is tile. I like that they provide arch support and that they are stretchy but not overly so. And don't forget, these are just fun socks! with little designs on it, what little kid wouldn't love it! They also come in handy on autumn nights when camping and fishing. I'm happy with these socks, the boys love them. and I highly recommend them!
