Review on πŸ”Œ Amazon Basics 25ft (7.6m) RJ45 Cat-5e Network Ethernet Cable for Internet Connectivity by Mark Jefferson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

That's a good cable. False thrift is cheaper.

Good cable. Cables are hard to screw up if you avoid the cheapest ones available. Read the reviews for this and any other cable you are considering. The cables are somewhat disposable. They hurt when they fail and are cheap enough to just buy a replacement instead of looking for a warranty replacement on another cable of the same quality. I'm a network engineer with over twenty years of experience. I've made many of my own cables, but today's higher data rates mean I avoid them whenever possible. These higher data rates also make it important to avoid the cheapest ones available. In the worst case, they partially fail when you can still connect, but with more retransmissions. Most networks (my home included) don't monitor their ethernet connections or can't monitor them to identify problems that cheap cables can cause. Why pay for 50Mbps internet when cheap cable will destroy most of it? The RevainBasics brand name means (to me) that they deliver a good product that maintains a quality image without the burden of having to replace many units under warranty. Cheap cables rightly get bad reviews and are false frugality. They affect durability and quality.
