Review on Helly Hansen Women's Beluga XXX Large Coats, Jackets & Vests: Ultimate Comfort & Style for Plus-Size Women by Mike Sutton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very warm vegan coat with a big hood for big hair!

This rating is closer to a 4.5 but I've rounded it up because I love this brand and find the coat is vegan and can get me through the coldest winter days! For the record, I'm 5ft 3in, about 105lbs, and I bought an extra small black one. The coat hits me below mid-thigh. The coat looks better in person than online. The coat has a relaxed fit, allowing plenty of room for layering while maintaining a long, straight silhouette and still looking cute on a petite figure. I like that the hardware, zippers, and buttons are thin rather than shiny, giving a streamlined look. The zip is ok just takes a little getting used to and I find that all long coats can be tricky with the zip. I like the big hood, but I have very long hair that doesn't fit in any other hood. So that's a big plus for me! The hood is also adjustable and detachable, so if you understand that a hood should be a great feature for everyone. I think it's good that the collar is worth it. This gives the coat a very sharp look and keeps the neck warm. The coat is very warm and suitable for the Chicago winter (tested in clear weather). Elastic sleeves were new to me; I'm used to wrist gaiters or adjustable velcro but I'm getting used to it and it didn't turn out to be a big problem. They are surprisingly well protected from the wind. I anticipated this problem by buying long fingerless gloves instead of gaiters to keep wind from getting into my wrist, but I didn't have to use them too often. The coat is lightweight and feels like a cozy blanket. He could have used another pocket (probably an inside pocket) in addition to the two front hand warmers, but these pockets proved adequate and very warm. I should add that I am a college student and this coat was a great coat for walking long distances around campus/town! Due to the streamlined look and subtle hardware, I would definitely wear this coat to dressier occasions, especially in black. Overall, the Helly Hansen Blume Puffy Parka is a great everyday winter coat at a reasonable price.
