I used the Smart Life app as a universal app to connect all devices (plugs, light switches, extension cords, etc. .) everywhere in my house. I don't like the idea of having multiple apps on my phone and multiple accounts to manage those devices because in the future I'd have to keep re-downloading all those apps whenever I update my phone. If all other smart device brands I use can be controlled and managed by the Smart Life app, there's no reason or excuse why the Govee brand can't do the same (other than they probably just want to know who using their devices). ). As with many devices, all Govee had to do was put you into pairing mode (by pressing the power button for about 5 seconds like other brands) and simply add the device to a regular app like Smart Life. Instead, there's no online support for entering pairing mode, and all the instructions in the box say you need to download their app to connect to them. Having multiple apps to manage my devices isn't for me, which is why they're coming back.
