My fiancee ordered this work bag for her new job to carry her essentials, hoping that it would actually be made out of leather for comfort and flexibility. She liked the style and mentioned that it looks very similar to a certain Kate Spade model, but she'll go with this one as long as it's real leather. Unfortunately there aren't any. I thought it was too hard and had a slight smell (unnoticeable, only about 15 inches away) of PVC type synthetic material. This is a nice bag, but not nearly $80. As far as synthetic material goes, it's a sub-$50 bag at best, even with a recognizable brand name. The construction is not very good, the stitching on the "handmade" seams is not very clean, but the bag looks very nice from a height of 3 feet. a way. The zipper works very smoothly and the inner central compartment is lined with the typical fabric used for wallets, while the outer main compartments are unlined and look the same as the outer material. We have a close-up of a cut in the pendant, which confirmed our suspicion that it wasn't leather at all, but some sort of supple, stretchy black material that was mixed with other plastics and coated in the final color. a less conscious woman or man if you need a bag like this in your life but for $78 with a misleading material design other "real leather" offerings can probably be found.
