Note that in the photo above there is a strip of metal at the base of the bulb - it connects directly to the part of the bulb that connects to the outlet, so it connects directly to the 120V wiring that powers the garland supplied and is completely exposed. I'm an electrical engineer and I can say they will never meet UL or product safety standards. I got a nasty electric shock trying to install them. Anyone near them when they are on can get the same thing - they are dangerous. I can't believe they're allowed to sell.
