When these pillows arrived they were crushed very, very flat. I hardly opened them because I thought they were too shallow for my purposes. Since they weren't very expensive, I decided to open them up and try them out. They instantly expanded to about 3-4 times their shipping thickness and didn't lose their buoyancy even after a few months of use. They are about 6 inches thick and a bit hard. I do not use them as baby or baby pillows. They would probably be too firm for a real baby, but they make great neck support or extra pillows for sleeping without taking up half of my bed.
