My 5 year old usually wears most sizes like 6x/7. I bought size 7-8 after measuring. It fits but it's not comfortable. There's no flex or stretch, and the top half is very boxy. My daughter didn't mind at all and wanted to wear it again. It's also very thin, so I recommend wearing tights or plain shorts/pants with it. It was a great dress for her 50 day school outfit. She hates polyester in most suits, so I found a nice A-line dress and attached a music note patch to it. Other parents also praised her dress. Be sure to measure with a tape measure and don't expect the fabric to sag.
