6000+ pages for toner cartridge

I have been using the HP1320 laser printer for about 8 years. So far I have used the original toner cartridge which should have lasted 2,500 pages and a Q5459X cartridge which should have lasted 6,000 pages. My printer tells me it printed 8722 pages and I just installed my second Q5459X. It was nice to find that these cartridges last at least as long as they should. The HP scores are almost perfect. I mainly use my laser to print text. Illustrated documents are sent to the nearest inkjet printer. I have had no problems with these toner cartridges including the one I just installed. I've tried much cheaper toner cartridges on other printers and haven't found the quality to be up to scratch. I shouldn't be saving less than a penny per page if I end up having banding, black spots between sets, or needing to be replaced more frequently. The downside, of course, is that this price seems ridiculously high at first glance. Let's face it, you can pick up the new HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn for just $20 more or the P1102w for $15 less. And they contain a toner cartridge. But the starter cartridge comes with the toner, and soon you will want to buy a real toner cartridge. And here they are, at a slightly higher price per page than here - high-yield cartridges aren't even available for these new printers. So shake it up, spend your money upfront, and you'll get 6,000 high-quality pages. HP printers are amazingly reliable, so I haven't encountered a situation where I buy toner only to find the printer has stopped working. And spend extra money on an HP product. At least you have a reliable, high-quality toner cartridge that will last.
