Review on Wireless Touch Keyboard with Easy Media Control πŸ“Ί and Built-In Touchpad for TV - Logitech K400 Plus by Robert Rasmussen

Great but not perfect

My sister needed a new home theater keyboard. I have an old version of this K400R keyboard. Overall I like this keyboard. It is ideal for use in the living room. It would be nice if it was actually a bit smaller and had a reliable trackball in addition to a mouse pad. I have bought and tried other home theater keyboards and this one from Logitech is the best and most reliable you will get. I would like to point out right away that this model for sale is K400+. It differs from the previous two models, but is very similar. I also want to make it clear that I definitely prefer the K400R. What I really dislike about the + model is that the trackpad isn't as precise and the up and down arrow keys are in the same slot. Which often leads to errors since every other key on the keyboard and older models has its own key slot. I keep skipping the top button and hitting Shift above it or pressing down when I need to press up and it's really annoying. The mouse buttons on the trackpad are smaller than on older versions. It wasn't a problem for me, but sometimes I missed the buttons. The old version is missing some function keys but I hated them so I'm glad they're gone. The only change I really like is that they moved the volume and mute buttons just above the trackpad. which is nice. They also redesigned the battery compartments to make them more accessible. What I really like about this keyboard is that it eliminates the need for a mouse and keyboard on my couch or coffee table. This trackpad can be downright annoying to use, especially when you're busy, but for most things it's bearable. Both the range and the battery life are excellent. I can keep in touch almost anywhere in my house. I also like the yellow mouse button in the top left corner. This allows you to navigate and select things faster. Printing is impractical for me. This is not ideal for long printing sessions. I prefer a large ergonomic keyboard with split and beveled keys. But then again, for a sofa and simple viewing, it's perfect for it. It also has a small storage space for the wireless USB adapter in the battery compartment. So I'd give the older K400R a solid 5 stars for excellent mousepad tracking and no confusing arrow key layout. But I can only give this K400+ model 4 stars. The improvements of this new model are outweighed by its shortcomings. At the time of writing this review, I've seen the older model for a lot less. I'm thinking about buying it again and keeping this one as a fallback or something.
