I needed a sturdy tripod, but I didn't want to spend $300 or so.
Needed a sturdy tripod but didn't want to spend around $300 for a really high quality tripod. This served its purpose very well for my trip to Iceland. It's not too bulky, the easy and quick camera mount is perfect for chilly nights when gloved hands are trying to capture the Northern Lights. While the lightness is professional for the most part, I have to admit that it didn't withstand as much wind as I had hoped, but other than that it was perfect and helped me capture once-in-a-lifetime shots like this.
