I always wait a little before writing a review because it allows me to see how a product is doing over time is working. I bought four of these bentos for my kids to use at school/daycare about two months ago when things open up again. I really liked her. until about a week ago. why did i love her They fit perfectly in a standard lunch box, fit on a regular sandwich and were very large. Also, small cups are airtight. They solved all my problems and I promised to buy in the fall. Here's the problem: the only way to put them in the dishwasher is to separate the lid from the base. They seem built to fall apart. Also, in my never-ending quest for the perfect bento (which I did and then discontinued), I've had numerous other bento's over the years. And the lids and bases are always separable if they can be washed in the dishwasher. Last week one of the small hinges came loose when I was removing the lid. Complete heartbreak guys. I winced and tried to fix it, hoping I got a bad one. But then, tonight, someone else did the same. It broke in the EXACT place (and a tiny plastic hinge flew off and hit my eye!). I cannot recommend them, although I would have two months ago. A terrible design flaw prevents her from living her best life in a bento. Back to the drawing board for me. What a waste of money.
