There is a location that requires you to carry a case. If you are in a situation where you need to take the headphones out of your ears for a brief period of time (like when you are checking out at a store, for example), then once you take them out of your ears, you need to place them somewhere else (maybe in your pockets?). In addition, it takes a considerable amount of time to obtain the case. Personally, I find that wearing my headphones on the arch of my neck is the most comfortable position for me.
