Finishes and materials are cheap. It's like a semi-gloss textured laminate on thin MDF. From a distance everything looks fine. The bracket had an arrow pointing up, but the hole pattern was up on one bracket and down on the other. I'm not sure if it matters. I installed it on both with the arrow pointing up, but the location of the screws is different. When screwing in the screw, one of the dowels broke. . So I used other screws. A single studded shelf is much stronger than a shelf resting solely on drywall anchors. I would recommend buying other anchors or screws. Or just don't put anything too heavy on the shelves. I would recommend spending a little more and getting higher quality shelves. But since I drilled the holes and spent all my time doing them, I'm keeping them. I installed them in my kitchen and they look great.
