Palm Pads are very practical. The gloves are comfortable and durable. They aren't insulated so I'm an XL and use thin fleece liners that are good to about 45F. I generally use them unlined between 55F and 65F and lined between 45F and 55F. Underneath and I use warmer gloves and in addition I use the fingerless version of these gloves. They can be a bit difficult to remove with wet or damp hands, so remove carefully to avoid damaging the stitching.
