Review on VelocityDB by George Jacobson

It has been super simple for our team of four people to create, store and query data in our own private DBMS environment! We have used several other databases before but this really is one of the easiest ones we've ever worked with. There's really nothing I can think of that I dislike about it as is works exactly how you would expect from a good RDMBS - very user friendly! If your looking into an open source option, then definitely look at MySQL or PostgreSQL (my personal preference). We needed something affordable and accessible which allowed us to build up some confidence around managing complex SQL statements without needing to pay someone else to do so. From there everything just fell into place.
