Extremely easy assembly, even for one person. Note that all the screws, washers, etc. are FIXED at the top of the long, thin pole, as well as at the bottom of the large pole that goes into the marble base. You just need to unscrew these few parts and assemble as shown on the instruction picture. There is a very small Allen key and another metal key, both are in the red pouch so you don't need any other tools. The marble base is heavy! I found it easiest to lay the marble on its side, on a rug or cardboard, and place the long pole you've already assembled on a crate (like a mailer box) or large pillow to hold the lamp stabilize while you screw in the base. However, it is really easy to assemble. This product is very well made and I am very pleased that it is fingerprint free even after assembling and moving the finished lamp. more expensive than it actually is, like the lamps I've seen for $1200 or more. This is a great purchase, perfect for reading and setting the mood. As you can see from the attached photo, prior to purchasing this lamp I did not have a reading lamp in the room of my actual mid-century 1960's house that I am remodeling. Now the green sofa is my favorite place to sit and read in the evening because of this lamp. Also the design of the lamp balances the space in an interesting way as the second picture shows.
