This discontinued model seems to have the same hardware as the newer one, but you need to update the firmware. Focus broke right after the update; made a horrible crunch and didn't focus further than a foot or so. I don't give the replacement a good chance, it's well made, but I don't know if the company will continue to service them. Also, it gets very hot and the battery doesn't last more than an hour. But for all that, the photos are good and the interface is just awesome. Manual controls on the iPhone screen are much easier than on a DSLR. I really like the wireless control mode; The picture from the camera is sent to the phone at a lower quality than when it's plugged in, making it harder to focus, but making the DXO the most handy photo rig I've ever used. Mounted it on a handy smartphone tripod, stood back and easily snapped shots at different focal lengths and exposures.
