This cute little rug does not have an unpleasant chemical smell, does not stain and does not retain food odors, which is very nice. The mat fits our Peg Perego siesta tray perfectly and I think it fits most other high chair trays as our tray is relatively larger than other brands and there is still quite a bit of room. Since it's a small tray, I think we can use it when eating outside as well. It's very easy to clean, apparently a lot easier than a large high chair tray. I also like the raised edges on the divided portions so my LO can pick up the sides, which is very helpful for my not-yet-professional eater. Portion sizes may be ideal for first-time eaters but may be too small for larger toddlers. My baby is 20 months old and I need to keep an extra bowl of food to refill during lunch/dinner. I wish there was more space to eat. The seller suggests wetting the underside of the mat for a tighter fit. While I find this trick helpful, it still failed our baby's pinch test. He realized he could remove the mat and turn the food over, almost immediately tearing the edge (I think this is a common problem with all mats of the same design, and I don't think there is a mat with suction cups , one has strong enough suction that children can't pull it off). But that's not a big problem for us, because our Lo usually concentrates on eating and only plays bowls when he's full. With better portion control, we can avoid this 90% of the time. Also, I find the suction works better on our dining table or countertop than on a high chair tray. This is probably due to the surface of the tray insert being slightly deformed by heat or being washed in the dishwasher.
