I really like the rechargeable which is great as I can always charge it in the car on the way to my destination and also use it while charging. My kid appreciated the fan, especially because it's rear facing and the air conditioning doesn't circulate to him as easily on hot days. I was able to maneuver my legs around the headrest very easily and it stays in place. I was also surprised at how quiet it is. You really only hear it at top speed. Unfortunately, I haven't used it enough to really know how good the battery life is, so I can't say it's great just yet.
