Review on 💻 Targus AWE55US Portable Lightweight Chill Mat Lap: Dual Fans, Overheating Prevention, LED USB, Laptop Cooling Pad, Black/Gray by Todd Adams

My MacBook Pro 2019 just got hotter!

I was looking forward to this cooling pad and received it yesterday. This product needs to be powered from your computer's USB port, so for the next-gen MacBook you'll need a Lightning to USB Adapter first. . This in itself is a minor annoyance at best, but after five minutes (if so) when my computer turned on the fan, the laptop's own internal fans spun up to full speed. Note that this is done with no applications running. I use a temperature sensor that constantly monitors and records the temperature of the laptop, so I gave it a few more minutes. Normally when solely working on the internet and watching videos/light activities, the temperature temp. will fluctuate between 75-85 degrees. After 15 minutes of just surfing the web with my Macbook USB powered by a fan, my CPU was hovering around 120-130 and also with a Safari tab open. I decided to use an external power supply for the cooling pad as I initially thought it would overclock my computer on its own. Even when I was plugged into an enhanced adapter that plugged directly into my power strip, while browsing the web, temperatures would fluctuate around 115, which is still MUCH hotter than usual. I made one last try, opened World of Warcraft Classic (very light graphics. It's from the early 2000s, for reference) and my CPU temp jumped to around 180 degrees Fahrenheit. After that I decided to give it up completely and just put my MacBook back on the glass table where it originally was. The temperature began dropping immediately, leveling off at 74 degrees Fahrenheit about five minutes later. My recommendation. First of all I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone unless of course they want to keep their machine running at burning temperature. But ESPECIALLY don't buy if you're running a new-generation MacBook Pro with already poor unibody ventilation, and the prohibitively poor ventilation provided by this "cooling pad" makes the problem exponentially more serious. We will be back as soon as possible.
