Works surprisingly well. I had a bike ride. I ended up wanting cold water. I left the house on Friday night and filled it with water and ice. The journey took seven hours on Saturday. The temperature outside was over 100 degrees and the bottle was in my car. I finished the trip and to my great surprise there was still ice in the bottle! The top makes it difficult to drink while driving. For trips like hiking, it would be easy to use and would provide fresh, clean, cold water all the way. I turned around and bought a 64 ounce bottle for long trips. The bottles are bigger than you think so be aware. The insulation makes them slightly larger. Still 36 hours at over 100 degrees heat and ice? Wonderful!
