This is the second one I have bought. I use the first one for loose tea and wanted one for coffee. Bought a similar pan for a friend. They are cool!. They are very pretty, don't fall off, all stainless steel (no plastic parts), they hold up perfectly. They seem to keep a hot drink as hot as other stainless steel French presses, meaning it gets cold after a while, but better than glass. I've been using the first one every day for several years and I'm very satisfied. It held up better than the competitor I had before. I had two in a row. They fell out of the frame, the plastic parts broke, the screen rubbed, couldn't stand it like that. This one still looks new after a few years while the others have become scrap after 2 years. People often admire his attractiveness. I bought a new one for coffee. There's a trick to brewing coffee in a French Press. Many of the complaints I've read in the reviews seem to stem from improperly brewed coffee, i. H. Coffee ground too fine. There are guides on how to make French press coffee online and I suggest people read them. You need to grind your coffee into larger, more even chunks than you will use for drip irrigation (I've seen a suggestion to use an impulse grinder if you don't have a burr grinder). Yesterday the barrista told me he would pour a small amount of hot water (almost boiling) over the caul and let it steep for a minute. Then he pours in more water and stirs carefully. He lets it sit for a total of about 4 minutes before pressing the plunger. In terms of its construction and functionality, this pot performs similarly to other French presses I've used. Some advantages are that it's easy to clean (parts unscrew easily to open the strainers and take out a piece of coffee or tea), it doesn't break and it keeps the coffee hot. The screens of the first are also in good condition, unlike the competitor that has become frayed after a while. Still undecided if I like this brewing method as much as Drip, but I like the pot. The trick seems to be getting the perfect grind so it's strong but not grainy. It would be nice if they made the pot bigger. I had hoped to serve the crowd. It's a large pot (35 ounces), but it's really only about two 16-ounce mugs. I am very happy with the purchase.
