This Windshield Washer Pump is an EXACT replacement for the original equipment Dodge/Chrysler. The reason this replacement seems so much better performing than your old pump is because these pumps rarely fail catastrophically. Gradually, over time, they fail, and when they fail completely, they have shown poor results many months ago. So the replacement appears to be MUCH more powerful than the old failed block it's replacing. But don't be fooled, this pump works EXACTLY like the original pump did when your car was brand new. Note that many Dodge/Chrysler vans and SUVs actually use two pumps; one for the windshield and one for the back. Both pumps are usually arranged next to each other on a common tank. But they are NOT the same part and even the electrical harness is unique so MAKE SURE you are ordering the correct part. My advice is to replace BOTH pumps if one fails. This happens for two reasons. First, if one pump fails, the other pump probably won't either, so save yourself the trouble of doing this twice and just replace both at the same time. Second, because the pumps are side-by-side, replacing both pumps is actually easier than replacing just one. Removing the outer pump facilitates access to the inner pump. Once removed, the internal pump can be removed and replaced, and then the external pump can be replaced. A replacement seal is also supplied with the new pump, but if your old seal is in good condition, simply remove it. , clean and reuse. Installation will be easier with the old gasket.
