I have quite thick hair past my shoulders and small bun shapes are great for simple buns that aren't too over the top. for a working day. (I tried a plus size once but ended up with a HUGE bun - maybe good for a special occasion but too big for a weekday.) I was concerned if they would even work for me considering how My hair is thick, but I was pleasantly surprised. I usually secure everything with an invisible bobby pin at the base, then insert two more bobby pins at 2 and 10 o'clock and you're done. The buns come out pretty sleek (more work to pull out the ends to make them look sloppy and casual), but it definitely saves time for me.
