Doesn't work with new 2021 iMac

I just bought a new 2021 iMac and received it hoping I can use my external devices as the iMac only has USB-C and Thunderbolt ports . I plugged it in and nothing happened. My computer does not read the external file. I am currently looking for other hubs and am hoping to find one that works.
