This hammock has to meet the requirements of an emergency backpack. It's reminiscent of the jungle survival hammocks that came with a Vietnam-era aircrew life jacket and is very well made. The only thing I replaced are the tree straps. For civilian use, use one of the park service-approved damage-proof harnesses to minimize tree damage. I replaced the guides with military spec 750 paracord polypropylene cord (made by us). If your hammock is under 6ft 4 inches (and under 200lbs if you don't get more PT!) it will fit you, it's well built and has a minimal weight/footprint which is perfect for storing in a small accommodate package. The product is made in the UK from military grade materials (most likely for their aircrew survival kits) and with proper care (i.e. don't leave it in the sun for too long it destroys the nylon) should last you quite a long time. With a MEST 5x8 canvas tarp this one can Can be a very effective emergency shelter for warmer climates when used with an insect screen. Can also be used in spring and autumn at moderate temperatures, works well at 45 degrees with the Kifaru Doubie blanket! Many unique and affordable items have come onto the market recently, such as Sawyer's efficient mini filtration system. THERE IS NO EXCUSE not to have a Ready Pack! I believe these items are essential, include them in your home or camping kit. Highly recommended.
