It has a powerful fan with different power levels and lighting options. There is no doubt about the ability of this device to cool the laptop. It's perfect for a 17" laptop or 15.6" laptop and a cellphone next to it when it needs to cool down too. Sure, it's a bit more expensive than its competitors, but your laptop is way more expensive and you want to protect it from overheating and frying electronics. Most of the time, a cooling pad isn't necessary, but when one is needed to extend the life of your laptop, it beats all the weak. This is definitely the right thing. Hmmm, maybe I should think about putting another one under my modem and router :) Update: I've had it for a few weeks now. I really like that I can adjust the angle of the screen - it's very handy when I'm lying on the couch or lounging on the bed. When using my 15.6 inch laptop, I was able to place my phone next to the laptop platform to cool down.
